At the Lilburn Community Improvement District, meaningful progress is never made alone. It is built through strong partnerships, shared vision and a commitment to making strategic investments that benefit the entire community.
The most significant relationship we have is with the City of Lilburn. By working together, the CID and the city can multiply each other’s efforts, combining resources, aligning priorities and advancing projects that would be difficult to accomplish independently.
This collaboration allows both organizations to extend their impact. The city identifies critical needs and sets long-term priorities, while the CID brings additional funding and implementation support to help move projects forward. Together, that alignment turns important ideas into tangible improvements for the community.
The Bryson Park/Hood Road roundabout is a strong example of how this partnership works in practice. The city had identified the intersection as unsafe and in need of improvement but delivering a solution of this scale required additional support. Through collaboration with the CID, the project moved from concept to design, to construction, and to completion.
Breaking ground in 2023 and completed in 2025, the roundabout was designed to enhance mobility, reduce congestion and create a safer, more efficient route for drivers, school buses and pedestrians. Today, it is already improving traffic flow and creating a more accessible, welcoming corridor for residents and visitors, with benefits that will extend well into the future.
The $4.3 million project also reflects the strength of coordinated investment. Designed through a partnership between the CID and the City of Lilburn, it was funded through a combination of local and state resources, including a Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank grant, significant city investment, CID funding and additional support from Gwinnett County and GDOT. This layered approach to funding is only possible through strong collaboration and shared commitment.
“Partnerships like the one we have with the Lilburn CID are essential to our city’s continued success,” said Mayor Johnny Crist. “By working together, we are able to stretch resources further, prioritize projects that matter most and create a stronger, more connected community.”
Strong leadership also plays an important role in ensuring this collaboration remains effective. With guidance from the CID board, including Chairman Jim Vaught, the organization continues to focus on projects that reflect both immediate needs and long-term vision.
“Collaboration is at the core of everything we do,” said Jim Vaught, chairman of the Lilburn CID board. “When the CID and City of Lilburn are aligned, we are able to make smarter investments, create more opportunities and drive meaningful progress that benefits the entire community.”
The roundabout’s completion, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting in September 2025, is more than a project milestone. It represents what is possible when partners come together with a shared goal and a willingness to invest in the community’s future.
As Lilburn continues to grow, this kind of partnership will remain essential. By aligning resources, sharing expertise and working toward common priorities, the CID and the city are not only solving today’s challenges but also building a stronger foundation for what comes next.
Together, we are creating a Lilburn that is safer, more connected and positioned for continued success.
