Spotlight on Councilwoman Yoon-mi Hampton

In 2021, Yoon-mi Hampton made history when she was elected as the City of Lilburn’s first black Councilmember and the first person of Asian descent. Councilwoman Hampton was born and raised in Korea, but has called Lilburn home for the past 23 years. As a champion for diversity, she is proud to have witnessed Lilburn’s growth and diversification over the years and has been a catalyst for driving connectivity through community service. Hampton has been integral in organizing annual cultural celebrations and volunteering with the Lilburn Woman’s Club to enrich the community.

Over the years, Hampton has built close relationships with Lilburn’s Mayors and police department, which she likens to family. As a councilmember, Hampton is deepening these connections, including her new partnership with the Lilburn CID. Her goal is to improve traffic flow near Lawrenceville Highway and bring businesses to the Lilburn Marketplace shopping center.

“I’m now in a position where I can use my voice to help people who do not have a voice,” said Councilwoman Hampton.

The Lilburn CID is confident that the new councilwoman’s resourcefulness, passion and tenacity will greatly impact Lilburn and bring about positive change for businesses and residents.
