City of Lilburn Appoints Cole Porter to Lilburn CID Board

Porter Steel president to support growth and revitalization across the district

Lilburn, GA October 27, 2025 – The Lilburn Community Improvement District (LCID) has announced the appointment of Cole Porter, president and owner of Porter Steel Inc., to its Board of Directors. Appointed by the City of Lilburn, Porter will represent the community’s interests as the CID continues advancing initiatives that enhance safety, mobility and beautification throughout the district.

Porter has more than eight years of experience at Porter Steel, a structural steel and miscellaneous metals subcontractor with facilities in Lilburn and Athens, serving construction projects across the Southeast. Under his leadership, the company has experienced significant growth while remaining true to its mission “to change lives and lead by example,” guided by its core values of ownership, integrity, partnership and fail forward.

A Georgia native and University of Georgia graduate, Porter is dedicated to serving the communities where he grew up. He serves on the Executive Board for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia and participates in the Public Policy Committees for both organizations. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Duluth and currently serves on the boards of the Gwinnett Medical Foundation, Gwinnett Tech Foundation, Rainbow Village, Georgia Wellness and the 1818 Club.

Porter also established the Porter Family Foundation through the Community Foundation of Northeast Georgia to support local nonprofits that align with his company’s values.

“Cole’s deep commitment to community involvement and extensive business experience make him an excellent addition to our board,” said Tad Leithead, executive director of the Lilburn CID. “We look forward to his insight and leadership as we continue advancing projects that strengthen the Lilburn area.”
